Understanding domestic and family violence
The myth that domestic and family violence is a private matter enables it to occur.
The DV-aware workshops are open to the general public and is ideal for anyone seeking to enhance their awareness and knowledge of domestic and family violence.
This workshop is perfect for those looking to gain foundational knowledge in a time-efficient format.
What you will learn
3hr DV-aware Session
This is an introduction to understanding domestic and family violence. Workshop learners will learn the different signs and forms of abuse, and what to do if encountering someone who is experiencing domestic and family violence.
By the end of the workshop, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to:
- describe the different forms of abuse that constitute domestic and family violence
- explain the linkages between power and control and domestic and family violence
- describe what you can do if you know someone who is experiencing domestic and family violence.
1-Day DV-aware Session
1-Day DV-aware is a workshop where you will learn how to recognise and respond to domestic and family violence and what you can do to help make a difference.
By the end of the workshop, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to:
- identify the different signs and forms of abuse that constitutes domestic and family violence
- learn about the Duluth Power and Control Wheel
- reflect on and share what you can do if you know someone who is experiencing domestic and family violence
